This sleeve sets the spacing, alignment and end-float that keep a trailer joint running true - it locates components and takes thrust so they don't wander or bind. It locates the radius rod that keeps the axle square to the trailer. Worn or crushed, it lets parts move where they shouldn't. EE053 restores the correct dimension. Look for end-float or sideways play that wasn't there before, fretting or bright rub marks on the faces, a crushed or stepped profile, or components that no longer sit square. Renewing them is cheap insurance against accelerated wear in the pins and bushes they locate.
