// What this is

A working production line, not a prototype shop with overflow capacity.

Once a drawing is right, the work changes. Production isn't about flexibility — it's about repeatability, schedule reliability and consistent paperwork across thousands of pieces. We run that side of the shop on its own rhythm: dedicated programs, dedicated fixtures, dedicated material lots.

A production contract at Enex looks like this: one approved drawing, an agreed annual or 6-month forecast, monthly or quarterly call-offs, and weekly dispatch against the call-off. Material is sourced against the forecast — so a call-off becomes a 5-10 day machining cycle, not a 6-week material-procurement cycle.

EN 10204 type 3.1 mill certs on every dispatch. Lot traceability with material heat numbers from the bar to the finished pallet. Sampled dimensional inspection on critical features (5% of batch standard, 100% as an add-on). The paperwork that lets your QMS sign off without a follow-up email.

Good fits for production at Enex

  • Wear parts for mineral-processing OEMs — bushings, pins, screen sets
  • Hydraulic shafts & manifolds for cylinder builders — 50-2000 piece runs
  • Trailer wear parts — pins, bushings on rolling fleet contracts
  • Valve internals — stems, seats, sleeves in 316SS, 17-4 PH
  • Replacement components for OEM-obsolete equipment, run on annual call-off
  • Pre-production first-article + scale — prototyping and production from the same drawing

Less good fits

  • Mass-volume work past 50,000 pieces/year (we'd suggest a dedicated contract manufacturer)
  • Single-piece deep-drawn or stamped work (not our process)
  • Fully automated lights-out runs (we run staffed shifts only)
// 03 — Pricing curve

Setup amortises. The price drops sharply past 500.

Indicative price-per-piece bands for a representative bronze bushing in C932, 50mm OD × 35mm ID × 60mm long. Your part will quote to its own curve; this shows the shape.

// 1 piece $210 Prototype rate · all setup carried by one piece
// 50 pieces $48 Setup spread, single batch dispatch ↘ 77% vs. 1-off
// 500 pieces $22 Bar-feed run, dedicated program, single batch ↘ 90% vs. 1-off
// 2,000 pieces $16 Quarterly call-off, JIT dispatch, lot certs ↘ 92% vs. 1-off
// 10,000 pieces $13 Annual contract, monthly call-off, fixtured cell ↘ 94% vs. 1-off

// Indicative only. Real quote depends on material grade, tolerance, finish, secondary ops, freight terms and contract length. We provide a per-piece curve at the quantity bands you ask for.

// 04 — QA paperwork

Three things in every production dispatch.

Standard QA package on production runs — at no upcharge. Add-ons (100% inspection, sour-service material verification, NDT) quoted separately at order stage.

// 01 / Material

EN 10204 type 3.1 mill certs

Material certificate from the mill, with chemical analysis and mechanical properties, on every dispatched batch.

  • Heat number traceability
  • Chemical composition
  • Mechanical properties (tensile, yield, hardness)
  • Sour-service material verification on request
// 02 / Lot

Lot traceability

Each batch numbered and traceable from raw bar to finished pallet. Heat numbers cross-referenced to part serials where stamped.

  • Lot number on the dispatch note
  • Heat number on the mill cert
  • Stamp on the part on request
  • Records held 7 years
// 03 / Dim report

Dimensional inspection

Sampled inspection of critical features at 5% of batch (3-piece minimum). Full 100% inspection available as a per-piece add-on.

  • Critical features per drawing
  • Hard-gauge or micrometer depending on tolerance
  • PDF report attached to dispatch note
  • NCR process on rejects

Standard structure for a rolling production contract. Custom terms negotiated at PO stage where the situation warrants.

Brass bushing program — recurring production work

Cross-drilled brass bushings turned from solid bar. Bored, faced both ends and grease-port drilled in a single setup. Multiple sizes, repeat orders from trailer and equipment fleet customers.

Run against a rolling forecast — material sourced ahead of the call-off so each order becomes a machining cycle, not a procurement cycle. Sampled dim inspection per batch, EN 10204 3.1 mill cert per heat number on request.

Frequently asked

What's a typical production-run quantity for Enex?

Batches from 50 to 10,000 pieces. Smaller volumes are quoted as low-volume or prototype work; larger than 10,000 are typically split across scheduled deliveries to keep customer storage costs down.

Do you offer JIT delivery on production batches?

Yes. Standard contract structure is a single approved drawing, monthly or quarterly call-offs, and weekly dispatch of the agreed quantity. Storage at the Malaga workshop is included for up to 60 days of finished-goods inventory.

How does production-run pricing work?

Pricing is quoted at a per-piece price for the contracted quantity. Setup amortises sharply past 200-500 pieces depending on the part complexity. We provide a per-piece curve at quote stage so you can see the breakeven across 100, 500, 1000, 2000+ piece bands.

What QA paperwork is included on production runs?

EN 10204 type 3.1 mill test certificates, lot traceability with material heat numbers, and a dimensional inspection report on a sampled basis (typically 5% of batch on critical features). Full 100% inspection available as an add-on.

Can you run a production schedule against a forecast?

Yes. Most regular customers operate on a rolling 6-month forecast with monthly call-offs. Material is sourced against the forecast and the part is machined against the call-off — typical lead time is 5-10 working days.

What's the longest production contract you've run?

Several customers are on multi-year rolling contracts — bushings for a mineral-processing OEM since 2021, hanger pins for a fleet contractor since 2022. Schedule reliability and consistent dimensional output across thousands of pieces is the moat.
